PET: perfect for people,
planet and products

Did you know…  PET is the most environmentally-friendly
product for one-way packaging.

Resilux produces preforms made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate). This versatile material is easy to recycle and often comes back in the form of fibre for clothing and synthetic fabrics, foils and packaging. Increasingly, it is also recycled back to PET bottles once again.

Our PET solutions are sustainable and they benefit products, people and our planet. In particular, they make life more convenient for people, they respect our planet by being recyclable and they protect our customers’ products

Environmentally friendly

It is not a well-known fact but PET is the most environmentally-friendly product of all packaging on the market for one-way packaging. Scientific studies have shown that it is more environmentally friendly than glass after taking into consideration the full environmental costs of production, transport, cleaning and so on.

In addition to user-friendliness, PET packaging also guarantees optimum food safety, allowing less food to be wasted on a yearly basis.

Recycled PET

r-PET (recycled PET) comes from plastic collected after consumers have finished using it. Going through a recycling network, it is cleaned, ground and compounded into uniform pellets.

Using r-PET content in packaging lowers the environmental impact of a product and also helps divert plastics from landfills. In addition, it reduces a producer’s carbon footprint and appeals to retailers and customers who prefer sustainably packaged goods.

  1. PET is 100% recyclable – and can be made into a wide range of recycled products.
  2. When collected and separated, PET bottles can become part of a ‘closed loop’ of recycling. That means the same plastic bottle can return again and again and again.
  3. Using recycled PET reduces its CO2 footprint by 79%.
  4. Today, two out of every three plastic bottles use recycled material.
  5. PET can be recycled into many different forms.
  6. PET is up to 95% lighter than other common forms of packaging which results in less environmental impact from transporting products.
  7. PET’s performance characteristics make it the ideal packaging for many foods and drinks.
  8. Taking the whole life cycle of a product into account, PET produces 75% fewer greenhouse gases than its competitors.
